The Socialite finds out more about the upcoming feature film 9th Life of Louis Drax and we have a sneak peek of the trailer just for you…
If you’re into gripping psychological thrillers then this film is just for you. It’s full of astonishing twists and turns and is guaranteed to keep you at the edge of your seat.
The masterful tale is based on Liz Jensen’s best-selling novel of the same title. It explores the secrets of the human mind and its subtle gothic flavour makes for an encapsulating tale of mystery and intrigue.
At the heart of the story is little Louis. He has always been accident-prone and soon tells us he is dead. Well, almost. The nine-year-old narrates part of the story and reveals that on his ninth birthday he went on a picnic with his parents and in a dramatic twist of events fell off a cliff. He is left in a deep coma and his father (played by Aaron Paul) disappears. Will Louis ever wake up again? Did he fall, or was he pushed? The details are shrouded in mystery but enter Dr. Allan Pascal (played by Jamie Dornan) who sets out to uncover the truth.
The highly acclaimed neurologist who uses unorthodox and risky methods sets out to try to tap into the young boy’s unconscious mind and reveal the truth about his near-fatal fall and the mysteries surrounding his previous brushes with death. After all Louis Drax is a boy like no other. At the tender age of just nine he has endured a lifetime of curious mishaps and dark coincidences that has plagued his entire life.
The mysterious supernatural-fuelled thriller goes on to explore the nature of the sixth sense and blurs the line between reality and fantasy.
It’s easy to see why the book grabbed the attention of movie-makers when the plot revolved around an enigmatic murder, the intricate mind of a child and shady family secrets. All is soon revealed however in a surprising climax. The ominous last words we hear in the trailer are from Louis’ mom: “Maybe he figured it out. Sometimes I think he figured it all out.”
It’s due to be released on September 2nd in a limited release nationwide. Have a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think…
