The breath-taking views and the modern, sleek décor of the Coastlands Hotel captured the attention of the couple who decided to set a date and enlist the help of Durban’s own Marge B of Event Styling. She was entrusted with the creative task of bringing the winter wonderland wedding to life and set about ensuring every detail was taken care of in the magical transformation.

Jade, a customer services co-ordinator and Stanton, a professional football player for Amazulu recently tied the knot at the Coastlands Hotel in Umhlanga. To celebrate their nuptials, Stanton and Jade used a wonderful winter palette with scintillating accents of silver and crystal.

A snow bombe was on hand for the bride and groom’s grand entrance as they made their way across a 20m imported Italian white carpet welcoming guests into the Sky venue at Coastlands Umhlanga. Here family and friends were presented with a truly magical winter wonderland wedding reception. From a stylish champagne tower to ice white King Proteas, Snowdons, Ayrum Lillies and Lizzianthus being dusted and embellished with silver dust to and crystal décor and gel snow on all the tables.

“The wedding was held during the winter season, and we both loved the crisp, clean and soft feel of snow. So we decided on the magical winter wonderland theme. We wanted the decor and the atmosphere to be stylish and elegant. The magical, whimsical feeling is filled with the love of each other and our families.” says Jade.

The First Dance was made to look like they were dancing on the clouds thanks to over 50kgs of dry ice being laid on the dance-floor creating a theatrical smoke and swirling fog effect. Guests were also privy to an InstaBooth where Hashtagging #Lewiswedding2015 during the course of the reception was encouraged to share in the joy and fun of the magical celebration.

For the cutting of the cake Event Styling incorporated a glamourous four tiered fantasy winter wonderland cake which included a miniature soccer ball and bling topper to commemorate the happy occasion. Stanton even cut the cake with an authentic white Japanese Katana Sword.

Later in the evening guests were treated to a live performance by none other than X Factor winners boy-band FOUR to the soundtrack of Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.

“For our first dance – we chose Thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran. The singing group, called FOUR, won X-Factor South Africa 2014, sang this song in acoustic style with a live guitar for us and all the guests. It was amazing and so unique and special to us” said the happy couple.

“Once we got to the venue, we were floating on cloud nine! The decor, the atmosphere, the beauty of everything exceeded our expectations. It was honestly the most beautiful venue I have ever seen, like a fairytale out of a movie! We waited 11 years to get married, and we both agree that it was worth the wait. It was the best day of our lives” says Jade.
