Recently Hilltop Live, Monster Energy and SoundsGood announced Shadowclub as the opening act for the two Chevelle Concerts; at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on Friday 31 May and a sold-out show in Johannesburg at The Big Top Arena, Carnival City on Sunday 2 June.
“We feel honoured to be sharing the stage with the mighty Chevelle, and really looking forward to two nights of absolute madness” was Shadowclub’s reaction after the announcement.
Describing themselves as a back to basics kind of band, the dozen songs on their debut album “Guns & Money”, were recorded live with no backing tracks. Confirming their attitude to their music, the trio recorded “Guns & Money” in only nine days, when the initial plan was 12 days.
5FM DJ, Catherine Grenfell predicted that “One day someone will be inspired after listening to Shadowclub’s Guns ‘n Money album, to make the best Gangster movie of all time.”
Capetonians still have the opportunity to see Chevelle and Shadowclub live on stage, as limited tickets for the Cape Town show are still available from Computicket. As a little treat, Hilltop Live will be running some competitions over the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out on the Hilltop Live Facebook page for news on how and where to win tickets to the show.
