If you haven’t seen it yet don’t be the last person in SA, check out the latest offering from Van Coke Kartel ft Jack Parow in Chaos on The Socialite now…
Van Coke Kartel ended 2012 on a high note. Their fourth album, Wie’s Bang, was number 8 on the Simfy Africa top 20 downloads and Times Live listed the album at number 5 on their top 10 Rock albums of 2012.
Chaos featuring Jack Parow will be the second last single from Wie’s Bang. After this the band will be releasing exciting new material from May 2013.
The video was directed by Ben Jay Crossman. With a background in digital art and low-fi film making, Ben returned from Sweden a few years ago to focus on visual and emotive documentary film making. Ben has been stabbed twice, held up at gunpoint and shot by the riot police by mistake during a Honeydew riot and received a couple of black eye’s all in the name of raw reality film making. As far as bands go, Ben has mainly been working with Die Antwoord creating a variety of visual art for them. Ben has won numerous directing and art awards over the years and is currently shooting a feature called, Streets of Fietas.
“MK approached me to create a visual feast for this great track so I jumped at the opportunity. I wanted to create a video dealing with the drama of the end of the world as we know it. VCK and Jack Parow were super to work with and gave me complete creative freedom to materialize the song. I built the sets and had all the pieces of the jigsaw ready to go, then shot as much as time would allow. Our enthusiastic editor Cremer van Dango pushed himself to the limit and helped put this work of art together. With such a brilliant team namely Robo Wilson our DOP and Wilma Smit our producer we were able to create this video on a tiny budget with epic results. Thanks to my team and the band for all making me look so good.” Says Ben Jay Crossman
