The 100 Club in London has played host to some of the most influential artists in the world since its doors opened back in 1942. Converse has now joined forces and presents their Get Out of the Garage campaign 2012. The Socialite finds out more…
Converse first joined forces with The 100 Club last year when it was threatened with closure due to rent increases and local taxes. Its future now secured, it continues to host some of the most interesting acts on the music scene, from big names to obscure up-and-comings, and now it will host SA’s finest unsigned talent.
Converse wants your unsigned talent to get out of the garage and head to the UK to play a gig at this epic venue later this year. Whether you are a punk rocker, electro fundi, kickass proponent of kwaito, or a hip hop playa, Converse wants to hear you! If you’re an unsigned band/artist, upload your best original song and band bio via the Facebook page www.facebook.com/converse. The judges (Zulu Boy, Jon Savage and Garick Williams) will then narrow down the entries to SA’s top 10. Converse will then showcase these acts on Facebook, where South Africa decides who is lucky enough to be sent to London. One lucky fan will have the chance to join their favourite band VIP style for the gig.
Get out of the garage, share your band’s story and the music behind and showcase your talent at http://on.fb.me/1getout. Be sure to follow the conversation on Twitter @Converse_Africa and with the #Play100Club hashtag. Entries close 8th of July and winners will be announced on August 6th 2012.
