It’s upon us. The moment we have all been waiting for…Veranda Panda are launching their EP next weekend and you can be there to see it. The Socialite finds out more…
Veranda Panda is the creative combination of Durban’s own Liam Magner and Jane Baillie. Known to make ‘music with machines and a violin’ the two met at the Vodacom Durban July 2010 and so began the march of the dancing panda.
In their short time together, the two have played regularly at every major club in Durban, including a residency at the monumental Origin nightclub. Their eclectic mix of genres and often undefinable sound has allowed them to frequent festival, corporate, theatre and club platforms. Highlights include; Splashy Fen 2012, Fun In the Sun, Ramfest, Oppikoppi, House on Fire and HIFA. As well as a full scale musical production for Kearsney College.
Recently they featured a mix on the Roger Goode show on 5fm, opened for Pirate of the Caravan Park Mr Jack Parow and are now set to play main stage at the Durban July as well as the official after party. The duo also opened for Spoek Mathambo on his SA Tour recently and The Socialite caught up with them during sound check to find out more about their upcoming EP, artist collaborations and what we can look forward to seeing next.
