In this week’s choice for a local hotspot our resident contributor Miss Molly paid a visit to the first Durban Macaroon café to hit our shores. Let’s check out what she has to say about it…
Hop on to any fashion blog and you are bound to spot a post on macaroons. Many a European blogger, post about their visits to the famous Laduree Café in Paris whom are famous for their classic French macaroons.
About a year ago, I was intrigued on the macaroon craze when I hopped on to one of my daily reads, stylescrapbook.com and spotted my fav blogger, Andy in Pairs eating macaroons. After that, I was determined to find a great macaroon café but unfortunately my search came to a quick end as macaroons a year ago in Durban where scarce. So it wasn’t until a trip to Hong Kong, where I discovered macaroons on the menu at my hotels restaurant! I was like a child, desperately waiting for desert to come around so that I could finally get my hands on a macaroon! I was not disappointed and 3 macaroons later, I was satisfied. The crispy meringue cookies sandwiched around a butter cream filling were a true delight and an experience I will never forget.
If you are yet to enjoy the most fashionable treat, I have good news for you….
A Macaroon café has recently opened in our little town, Durban. Yes, you heard me right. Florida Rd, is now the home of the sweetest little café. It’s situated right next door to the House of Curries and you can enjoy breakfast from 7:30am, they also do lunches and of course macaroons in the most delectable flavours! See you there
