The 17th February marked the opening of London Fashion Week 2017 and The Socialite has a sneak peek of all the fashion, style and highlights from the UK’s most anticipated event of the year next…
This year the LFW took place at The Store Studios. It welcomed over 5,000 guests, including press and buyers from over 49 countries as the UK celebrated the 65th edition of the highly anticipated fashion extravaganza.
Featuring 51 catwalk shows and 32 presentations, the show schedule once again highlights the diverse and innovative British fashion industry on display in London.
British fashion designer and activist Dame Vivienne Westwood designed this season’s London Fashion Week Festival (LFWF) tote bag. The limited edition tote was inspired by Vivienne’s recent AW17 show Ecotricity. It was made from 100% organic cotton and the map graphic is Westwood’s representation of NASA’s projection of the effect of climate change on the world should the earth’s temperature rise by four degrees or more. Westwood’s solution is simple: SWITCH to Green Energy ‘Ecotricity’ and STOP Climate Change.
New to the schedule this season was Roland Mouret who showed in London in honour of the brand’s 20th anniversary, alongside CHALAYAN on the catwalk schedule and accessories brand Hill and Friends. As well as brands A.W.A.K.E and Ports 1961. In addition Burberry once again showcased their womenswear and menswear collection, Donatella Versace’s VERSUS returned to showcase on Saturday evening and MM6 Maison Margiela was featured on Sunday afternoon.
