We catch up with Feel Good Breakfast Show presenter Zoë Brown as she chats future plans, her love of hikes and growing up in Durban next…
TV presenter, radio personality and model Zoë Brown is a lady of many talents. You can find her on SABC3 playing host on the popular early morning ‘Feel Good Breakfast Show’ – Expresso as well as on the airwaves on radio KFM.
When not presenting, Zoë finds herself exploring the outdoors as she enjoys hiking and would never turn down an invite to cheese and wine. The Socialite sat down with the brunette beauty to find out more, check it out…
1. Can you tell us a bit about your family and growing up?
I’m a born and bred Capetonian, I grew up in Kuilsriver before our family made the big move to KZN. My parents still live in Amanzimtoti. I attended Kingsway High School and I try and visit home as much as I can.
2. What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time?
I absolutely love the outdoors! When the opportunity presents itself, I try and take walks and hikes with friends. I also love different eateries and often go for cheese and wine tastings.
3. Most memorable moment on set during a production?
I’ve been blessed to work with an amazing team and every single day is different! Although the entire show is memorable, the start is always my favourite. We joke and laugh before we go live and that energy usually carries the entire team through the morning.
4. Was there ever a stage in your life where you thought you would pursue a career other than in presenting?
I never thought I would end up where I am today. I thought I was going to study accounting (I’m really good with numbers), but after my gap year in America, I studied International Relations at the University of Stellenbosch with politics as my major. I accidently fell in love with the media industry and now I can’t picture myself anywhere else for the time being.
5. Any South African presenters or media personalities who inspired you along the way?
I work with an amazing team every day, and it’s through their guidance and presence that I’ve been able to adapt to live TV without any other previous experience. I think they play a major role in how I’ve adapted my own style of presenting. Growing up, I had a fascination with pageants, so naturally Jo-Ann Strauss has been a big inspiration for me.
6. What’s the one thing you’d like to achieve in your career?
I would like to have a career which enables me to focus on humanitarian issues and being able to build a real and lasting bridge between people and communities, at both a national and international level. I would like to be able to apply my knowledge of international relations in a working environment that offers a creative challenge and delivers results on the ground.
7. Favourite celebrity local or international and why?
I love Giuliana Rancic! She’s real, she’s brilliant at what she does and she’s fun to watch. She owns her mistakes (not that she has many) but she knows how to make the most out of any situation.
8. Who would you want to play you in the film of your life?
Zooey Deschanel. She’s an all-rounder. She would be able to pull off my silly side and my serious side. Also, we have the same name (just different spelling).
9. If you could invite any three people, dead or alive, for dinner, who would they be and why?
I would invite Selena Gomez: I’ve been told on a number of occasions that we look similar, so I would love a selfie with her. I would love to invite Giuliana Rancic, purely because she’s awesome! And lastly, Prince Harry, there’s just something about the royal’s red hair!
10. What’s next for Zoe Brown?
For now, I’m exactly where I want to be. With the live show never the same, I want to grow where I am before I branch out. So watch this space…
