We have reached the final furlong, and it’s now just a few days until Greyville plays host to an annual horse racing show piece! The final field for the 2012 Ladbrokes Gold Cup is ready and South Africa’s top 20 thoroughbreds will battle it out come Saturday the 28th July.

Horses and bands will share the turf at this year’s Super Saturday at the end of July, when Ladbrokes brings local music talent and a R1million jackpot to the oldest horse racing event in the country. Horse racing and music enthusiasts will rub shoulders with A-listers and the who’s who of the racing industry. 

The event, billed as “Race like a Rock Star”, will see famous South African rock band Shadow Club as a headline act and the country’s finest DJs, musicians, and dancers keeping the crowd entertained throughout the day. Other artists involved include:

BBoy Stretch & BBoy Law

Access to the concert will be free for all who attend the horse racing event. Gates will open at 10am sharp to public, with tickets selling at R30 per person. First race starts at 12.25 and last race will be 19.45 with the Ladbrokes Gold Cup main race at 16.20. In true surf city style, entertainment will continue straight into the night with a fireworks display to end off the spectacular day.
