MK Awards 2012: A Night of Music and Glamour

Friday night saw The Socialite jet-setting in order to cover the 6th annual MK Awards taking over our nation’s capital city. Check it out…

The South African music scene has received much support and an excited buzz was felt over the past few weeks leading up to Friday night’s award ceremony which took place at the State Theatre to honour the hottest local artists who’re making waves in their respective genres.

Some of SA’s top live acts took to the stage to entertain guests amongst whom included Pascal and Pearce, Double Adapter, Bittereinder featuring Tim Beumers, Die Heuwels Fantasties featuring Inge Beckman,  Mr Cat & The Jackal, Jack Parow featuring Gazelle, Moses Metro Man, and the winners of the “Best Live Act” category Van Coke Kartel.

The host for the evening was none other than Afrikaans rapper Zander Tyler, better known as Jack Parow – the “original donker dodgy afrikaans rapper” who kept invited guests and viewers alike entertained all night with his amusing one liners and antics. He later closed the show with a bang with his latest track “Hosh Tokoloshe”.

Our Socialite crew for this Showcase included Videographer Marcello Maffeis, Photographer Caroline Burne and presenters Chia Kougianos and Cobus van Heerden who were graciously hosted by the Royal Elephant Hotel & Conference Centre by Signature Hotels.
