This weekend saw The Socialite in Cape Town to check out the 35th annual J&B Met where celebs, punters and local fashionistas enjoyed a day at the races. Check it out…
The near 40 degree heat didn’t keep the crowds away as thousands flocked to Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town in celebration of this year’s J&B Met. The theme “Made Different” which calls on guests to challenge the status quo and to break the rules of fashion when it comes to your wardrobe at this year’s race day.’ Make your outfit from something truly different, wear what traditionally should not be worn, but whatever you do, make sure you do it differently” begs the race day sponsors.
And different was certainly the catch phrase of the day as local fashion designers, fashionistas and avid party goers celebrated the theme in what made a truly memorable Saturday afternoon.
Celebs spotted at the event included soapie stars form Generations, Isidingo and The Wild to TV presenter Janez Vermeiren, Jen Su, Leanne Liebenberg and local personalities Thulane Hadebe, Clayton Morar, and Roxy Louw.
Local designer duo Kluk CGDT was well represented at the event with local fashionistas sporting the gorgeous label in cocktail dresses and long elegant gowns to the floor seen by Top Billing presenter and MC for the event Jeannie D.
Braving the heat in head to toe leather was Bonang Matheba who we spotted enjoying a glass of bubbly at the SABC marquee in her Gert-Johan Coetzee little number alongside Jo-Ann Strauss who embraced her fun side in a orange tutu Stefania Morland dress.
Socialite presenter Chia Kougianos was dressed by Durban designer Thiran Moodley for this year’s J&B Met with his upcoming label Spine which saw a striking ensemble come race day of black soft leather and lace.
The scorching temperatures weren’t enough to keep the celebs and partygoers away this weekend which saw thousands flock to the race course to celebrate with gusto as the sun set on this year’s 35th J&B Met 2012.
