The 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held in Durban from November 28 – December 9. Local environmental enthusiasts can also look forward to a dose of celeb spotting this week as a host of high-profile international personalities descend on our North Coast shores.
Rumours circulating of visiting celebrities include infamous couple Brad Pitt and the ever gorgeous Angelina Jolie along with Leonardo di Caprio and U2 frontman Bono.
Hollywood favourite Leonardo Di Caprio, who is a staunch ecomentalist and evangelist for the Agrarian society was said to be arriving on a scheduled airline flight rather than his private jet in a gesture contributing to playing his part in environmental contribution. Di Caprio is widely known for his efforts which have also included a climate change documentary titled The 11th Hour, which he both co-wrote and narrated.
According to the Sunday Tribune newspaper, the COP17 guest list also includes media mogul Ted Turner, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and Print Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco
Other celebrities also planning to attend include politician and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and British billionaire Sir Richard Branson.
