Multi-Grammy award winner David Guetta and hip hop artist Akon will be performing live in SA next month. The Socialite finds out more…
Cintron Africa, in association with 5FM & MK, presents The St Yves Music Festival with David Guetta South Africa 2011 Tour supported by Akon during the 14th and 15th of October 2011. The exclusive SA events will first hit Cape Town and then Johannesburg for a rocking live spectacular this October – following closely on the heels of the international launch for Guetta’s brand new album – ‘Nothing But The Beat’.
Local music revolutionaries Jax Panik have been making waves with their unique brand of off-the-wall pop/dance music and unique live shows and the SA musos will be opening the show. Popular local DJ Dean Fuel, who has opened for some of the world’s top DJs touring South Africa, will also keep the beats alive, along with 5FM’s Poppy driving the stage action.
Nothing But The Beat is out now and includes songs like Where Them Girls At featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj, and the newest single Little Bad Girl featuring Taio Cruz and Ludacris. The album features no fewer than 17 guest artists, including hip-hop royalty Snoop Dogg and Timbaland, along with R&B superstars Usher, Chris Brown and Akon – plus Guetta’s “fellow mad scientist” Will.I.Am.
“I produced about 40 songs to get these 13 records together,” Guetta explains. “I wanted every song to be huge, phenomenal.”
Venue details will be confirmed, along with ticket details. Tickets will go on sale this week through Computicket. R5 from every ticket sold will be donated to The Trust, which represents various charitable organisations in Southern Africa.
