Local fashionistas, punters and party-goers flocked to the Greyville Racecourse over the weekend to celebrate the Vodacom Durban July and The Socialite was there to see it happen, check it out…

Igugu, the pre-race favourite for the day claimed an emphatic victory in the R3 million feature race arriving at the finish line to an ecstatic acclaim from the large crowd basking in the Winter sunshine. Igugu won by a length from Gary Alexander trained Pierre Jourdan closely followed by fancied thoroughbreds English Garden and The Apache with the tote paying six places at this year’s annual Vodacom Durban July. The race was however marred by tragedy as the 2009 winner Big City Life had to be euthanized after breaking down past the post.
