Ramfest 2011 Rocks SA

Last week saw The Socialite getting down and dirty on the dance floor at one of the most popular South African music festivals around – Ramfest 2011. Check it out…

What first started as a mostly metal-oriented bash in Cape Town, Ramfest has now become one of the most anticipated alternative music festivals in the country and has evolved to boast three venues in three cities over five days.

This year saw the festival hosted by stand-up comic John Vlismas and featured international bands Alkaline Trio from the US and Funeral for a Friend from the UK. Top local acts included Die Antwoord, Van Coke Kartel and Zebra & Giraffe.

“We’re really looking forward to coming to South Africa,” said Matt Skiba, lead singer and guitarist for Alkaline Trio. “Never in a million years did I think I would be saying that. We’re really excited and can’t wait to see you guys there.”

Matt Davies, lead singer for Funeral for a Friend said how he was so excited to be heading to South Africa. “It’s an opportunity we won’t waste. Can’t wait to meet some awesome people and see some amazing places. It’s gonna be crazy!”
