30 Seconds to Mars

American rock band 30 Seconds to Mars returns to South Africa for one night only live performance at the GrandWest’s Grand Arena. The Socialite finds out more…

First formed in 1998, 30 Seconds to Mars comprises of ex-Hollywood actor turned lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and songwriter Jared Leto, drummer and percussionist Shannon Leto and lead guitarist and keyboard player Tomo Miličević. Together they’ve sold over 3.5 million albums worldwide and have been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube.

Their unusual name and signature sound have impacted the world over and will soon touch down in SA soil for a one night only performance. “Our band represents a lot of things” says Shannon Leto. “The unusual name was derived from this professor who had a thesis and was talking about where technology was going; the evolution of man and how that plays a role. A sub-category was 30 Seconds To Mars. It was like the expediential growth of humans. We are literally 30 seconds away from Mars. Everything is right here and right now; everything is just so crazy and fast” says Shannon.

The band will perform at the GrandWest’s Grand Arena on Sunday 21 November 2010, for an exclusive one night only performance. Tickets are selling fast and are currently available at Computicket from R215 – R365. Guests can look forward to hearing tracks such as The Kill, A Beautiful Lie, This Is War and many more from the world class, arena crushing rock trio.
