The Fifa World Cup 2010 in Pics

The Fifa World Cup 2010 has come to an end and The Socialite looks back on the highs, the lows and the oh-so-ayoba moments of the most memorable month our country has seen to date…

It all began with a single dream many months ago and we were victorious in our bid to host the 2010 Fifa World Cup…

The introduction of Zakumi then followed, the official 2010 World Cup mascot, followed by the birth of Football Fridays, soccer-inspired fashion and the controversial vuvuzela…

This quicky escalated to the vuvuzela pandemic, where not one vuvuzela was left unblown…

Soon after the vuvuzelas came the car and street flags and home-grown supporter gear…

Visitors to SA included former football stars and their WAGS as well as dignitaries and international celebs who showed their support during the World Cup festivites…

They arrived just in time to see Shakira capture the world’s attention when she performed the official World Cup song entitled “Waka Waka”, accompanied by SA’s own Freshly Ground…

However, some say Paul, the “Oracle Octopus” is the true star of the 2010 World Cup as his astounding predictions proved to be 100% correct throughout the tournament. For others, who invested thousands and were angered by his apt predictions, fantasised about adding dear Paul to the nearest seafood restaurant accompanied by a little lemon and garlic sauce…

But not even Paul could predict the level of style the 2010 Fifa World Cup Trophy Case would possess as none other than Louis Vuitton came forward and designed the monochromes of all monochromes, in an exclusive signature case making the World Cup finale a truly fashionable affair…

And the 2010 Fifa World Cup Winner is…

Andres Iniesta scored the game-winning goal with four minutes left in extra time, as Spain won its first-ever World Cup

And there you have it, the 2010 World Cup in pics ranging from the highs, the lows, and the Ayoba to the Waka Waka
