This year’s theme, “It’s a Blooming Great Day” brought about a variety of interpretations and the designs showcased on the catwalk wowed the audience with a stunning visual display of floral fantasy and colour.
These three glitzy fashion shows in the week featured a host of esteemed SA designers including the likes of Leigh Schubert, Mike Narainsamy, Lindiwe Kuzwayo and Francois Vedemme, all from Durban, Klûk CGDT from Cape Town, David Tlale, RjKay Creations and Abigail Betz from Gauteng.
The stylish shows included the finals of the Young Designer Award and the Fashion Challenge as well as a viewing of the Extraordinary Hats and ended in the first showing of the Invited Designer Showcase.
Each year the Vodacom Durban July Fashion Showcase awes and inspires and this year was no different as a new element was added to the mix. Friday night’s show featured the multi-talented Victor Samsanov on violin, the gloriously filthy beats of Liam Magner and Ewok of Spitmunky mixing live for the Young Designers, ballerinas on pointe in Extraordinary Hats and a electric string trio, all brought together under the superb talents of David Gouldie.
The night saw innovative ranges that uniquely blend high style with understated elegance. The creations varied in texture and design ranging from feminine ruffles and delicate laces to silk and sheer fabrics creating designs of timeless style.
